The first Deli Zone store opened in 1994 in Boulder, Colorado. This store is located at 2900 Valmont Road and is still thriving today. After close to one full year in business, we opened a second store next to the University of Colorado, again in Boulder. This college store location is also still in operation and continues to grow in popularity each year. We learned that not only were our customers fond of our sandwiches, but we had now captured an entirely new market in college students. After several years of running the stores and adding popular new products, we opened up a third Deli Zone in Broomfield, Colorado. This store was formerly a bagel shop and the owner wanted out and felt confident that our product would be a successful fit. He was correct, as we are having our best year yet at this location!
It was in the early part of 1998 when we decided to build a fourth location with an on-site bakery to serve our existing stores. This was quite a construction project, but it not only created our highest grossing sandwich shop, but we had now developed better bread, which is made from scratch. We spent countless hours working with our baker trying to figure out the most ideal French bread baguette and finally arrived at a delicious recipe. Although somewhat satisfied with our four stores and bakery operation, two young couples had approached us with interest in purchasing their own Deli Zone. Hence, our franchise company had begun. We studied the market and wanted to give our franchisees a much better deal than they could find in the open franchise market. The first franchised stores are operating and succeeding today in Longmont, Fort Collins and Lafayette, Colorado. We now have our UFOC completed as well as our operations manual and we are ready for towns all over to enjoy our popular brand and flavor at the hands of some opportunistic entrepreneurs. We are honest hard working young businessmen who realize that our lifeline is in the hands of the franchisees and future franchisees yet to come.
